Christ's return to judge the living and dead; Parousia affirmed in Nicene Creed

The Syro-Malabar Church affirms the Parousia (second coming or Paroussia) of Jesus Christ as a central Christian doctrine. Christ will return at the end of time to judge all people, living and dead. This return will be real, visible, and glorious, not merely spiritual or invisible. The Chaldean liturgical tradition includes the affirmation, 'His kingdom will have no end,' and the church anticipates the consummation of all things in Christ.

At the second coming, Christ will gather all the nations before Him and will separate the righteous from the unrighteous. The righteous will enter eternal life and the kingdom prepared for them from the foundation of the world. The unrighteous will depart into eternal punishment. This judgment is understood as just and merciful, based on each person's deeds and response to God's grace.

The second coming is not described with the urgency or imminence characteristic of some evangelical Protestantism. Rather, it is affirmed as certain but not subject to speculation about its timing. The church emphasizes that believers should live in readiness and holiness, not in anxious calculation of dates and signs. The consummation of all things in Christ gives meaning and direction to history and provides confidence in God's ultimate victory.
