Genesis 1:1-2 God creates all things; Jewish creation theology affirmed

Messianic Jews affirm Genesis 1:1-2 as the foundation of Jewish theology: 'In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.' This passage establishes the absolute sovereignty of the God of Israel and God's creative power. Yeshua is understood in Messianic Judaism as God's Word (dabar) through whom God created all things (consistent with John 1:3 and Colossians 1:16).

The Hebrew narrative emphasizes God's creative sovereignty and the goodness of creation. Messianic Jews affirm this Jewish understanding of creation as foundational. God's creation is good, and God's purpose in creation is to bring forth life and community. This creation theology informs Messianic Jewish ethics and practice.
