Ethiopian eschatological literature in Ge'ez—including commentaries on the Book of Revelation and the Book of Enoch (canonical in Ethiopia)—reflects a lively interest in the end times. The canonical status of 1 Enoch in Ethiopia means that Ethiopian theology draws on a broader body of apocalyptic literature than any other mainstream Christian tradition. The eschatological hope is oriented toward the fulfillment of God's covenant purposes for all of creation.
