Christ will return visibly to judge all humanity and establish eternal Kingdom

The Coptic Orthodox Church solemnly affirms the Second Coming (Parousia) of Jesus Christ, who will return bodily and visibly at the end of the age to judge the living and the dead. This is confessed in the Nicene Creed at every Divine Liturgy. The eschatological hope of the Second Coming is embedded throughout the Coptic liturgical tradition, including the words of the anaphora: 'His death we proclaim, His resurrection we confess, His second coming we await.'

The Coptic tradition maintains a strong eschatological consciousness without speculating about the timing or specific sequence of end-time events. The church's extensive practice of fasting, prayer, and almsgiving is partly oriented toward preparedness for the Lord's return and the Final Judgment. The conviction that Christ will come again has sustained Coptic Christians through centuries of persecution and marginalization.
