Peacemaking is central; no binding pacifist requirement

Community of Christ has a strong peacemaking emphasis — reflected in its Temple vision ('Be a place of peace for all people and a doorway to the peaceable Kingdom of God') and in its Doctrine and Covenants sections on peace. The denomination advocates for nonviolent conflict resolution and is active in peace education and ministry.

However, Community of Christ does not officially require pacifism or prohibit military service. Individual members may serve in the military; the denomination's position is that peacemaking and conflict transformation are vocational callings to pursue within the constraints of individual conscience and circumstance.
