Virgin Birth

The New Apostolic Church affirms the literal virgin birth of Jesus Christ. Mary, a virgin, conceived Jesus without the involvement of a human father through the miraculous action of the Holy Spirit. This is understood as a genuine historical event, as attested in Matthew 1:18-25 and Luke 1:26-38, and as the fulfillment of Isaiah 7:14.

The virgin birth is affirmed as a fundamental Christian doctrine and is not treated as mythological or merely symbolic. It demonstrates God's transcendent power to act beyond natural causation and establishes the unique status of Jesus as the God-man. The miracle of the virgin birth is incompatible with the claims of skeptical historical criticism that dismiss it as a later theological invention.

While the NAC's Catechism affirms the virgin birth, the church does not develop an elaborate Marian theology or practice Marian devotion in the way that Catholic and Orthodox traditions do. Mary is honored as the mother of Jesus and is respected for her obedience and faith, but the focus of the church remains on Christ and His redemptive work through the apostolic ministry.
