Virgin birth affirmed by many; theological diversity permitted
Community of Christ does not impose doctrinal uniformity on the virgin birth. The denomination's movement toward theological openness and its creedal flexibility mean that members may hold a range of views on this question. Traditional members affirm the virgin birth as historical; progressive members may hold the doctrine with greater theological nuance.
The LDS-specific teaching that Heavenly Father physically fathered Jesus (as held by some early LDS leaders) is not officially taught by Community of Christ, which has moved away from the most distinctive early Restoration theological positions.
