Soul & Afterlife

The True Jesus Church affirms the doctrine of the immortality of the soul and the bodily resurrection of the dead at Christ's return. It teaches that at death, the soul of a believer enters a conscious intermediate state in which the soul awaits the resurrection of the body. The church acknowledges that the departed can benefit from prayers and intercessions offered on their behalf by the living.

This belief reflects both biblical passages concerning resurrection and certain Chinese ancestor veneration practices which, while the church does not uncritically embrace, influence its pastoral approach to the deceased. The church maintains that those who die in faith will be raised incorruptible in the resurrection of the just, while the wicked will also be raised to face judgment.

The emphasis on prayers for the deceased, shared with Catholic and Orthodox traditions, provides pastoral comfort to grieving members and acknowledges the spiritual interconnection between the living and the dead.
