Soul & Afterlife

IFCA International affirms the immortality of the human soul and a bifurcated afterlife experience based on one's relationship to Christ. At death, the believer's soul departs the body and enters the presence of the Lord in a state of conscious blessedness, awaiting the resurrection of the body. The soul is not annihilated or placed into unconsciousness (soul sleep) but exists consciously with Christ pending the bodily resurrection.

The IFCA teaches the doctrine of the rapture of the church, understood through a dispensationalist framework. Prior to the millennium and Christ's final earthly reign, the church will be caught up (raptured) to meet the Lord in the air and taken to heaven. This is distinguished from the resurrection of the dead, which occurs at different times according to IFCA dispensational eschatology. Believers who have died will be raised in resurrection bodies to glory, while those who remain alive will be instantly transformed without experiencing death.

The unredeemed likewise possess immortal souls and will experience resurrection, but to shame and judgment. All humans will stand before God to give account; believers will be rewarded for faithful service while the lost will face eternal judgment. The doctrine of the immortal soul and the reality of heaven and hell establish the absolute seriousness of the gospel and the necessity of personal conversion.
