Soul & Afterlife

The Cherubim and Seraphim Church affirms the existence of an immortal soul and conscious existence after death. Believers pass into the presence of God at death, while the unsaved face judgment and separation from God. However, the C&S's theology of the afterlife is distinctively shaped by African spiritual sensibilities within Christian categories. The boundary between the material and spiritual worlds is understood as porous and actively operative.

A key distinctive feature is the affirmation of ongoing communication and relationship with the spiritual realm, including ancestors (understood as saints who have passed on) and angels. Some branches permit prayer to saints and venerate ancestral spiritual guardians within a Christian framework. The C&S teaches that the faithful departed remain spiritually present and active on behalf of the living, interceding and offering protection. This incorporates traditional African ancestral veneration into Christian theology.

The C&S affirms bodily resurrection — believers will be raised incorruptible and glorified to dwell eternally with God. The precise theological articulation of the afterlife varies among branches, but the emphasis on the reality and accessibility of the spiritual world — including both heavenly and demonic realms — remains consistent across the denomination.
