Salvation

The C&MA teaches a distinctive fourfold gospel rooted in Jesus Christ's multiple offices and works. Christ is first and foremost Savior, offering salvation through justification by faith in his substitutionary death. Sinners are saved by repentance and faith, receiving forgiveness and a new standing before God. Baptism is not a means of salvation but a public ordinance declaring prior conversion.

Second, Christ is Sanctifier, offering a deeper life of holiness and sanctification beyond initial justification. The C&MA emphasizes that sanctification is a subsequent experience available to all believers, manifested through yielding to the Holy Spirit's work and the practice of consecration. This teaching reflects the Keswick emphasis on "progressive perfection" or deepening Christian life, not sinless perfection but victory over sin through surrender to Christ.

Third, Christ is Healer, with divine healing provided in the atonement (particularly Isa. 53:4-5). While the C&MA does not deny medical care, it affirms that healing comes ultimately from Christ and faith in his redemptive work. Fourth, Christ is the Coming King, emphasizing his imminent return and the believer's hope in Christ's future kingdom. This fourfold vision integrates justification, sanctification, healing, and eschatology into a unified gospel.
