Sacraments & Ordinances

The Universal Church of the Kingdom of God recognizes two ordinances as central: baptism (by immersion) and the Lord's Supper (communion). Baptism is the outward sign of inward conversion and repentance; it is administered to believers who have made a conscious decision to follow Christ. The Lord's Supper is celebrated regularly as a memorial of Christ's death and as a means through which spiritual communion with Christ is maintained.

A distinctive feature of UCKG practice is the widespread use of blessed oil, blessed salt, and blessed water in spiritual warfare and healing ministries. These materials are used in prayer services, in anointing the sick for healing, in spiritual cleansing, and in combating demonic forces. The UCKG has integrated practices of anointing and blessing materials that may reflect influence from Afro-Brazilian spiritual traditions while framing them within Christian theological categories. Believers are encouraged to anoint themselves with blessed oil for protection and healing and to use blessed water for spiritual cleansing.

The sacraments/ordinances are not understood as conferring grace ex opera operato (automatically, by the mere performance of the action) but as expressions of faith and as occasions through which God's power is accessed. The emphasis falls on the believer's faith and the power of Christ's blood rather than on the ritual act itself. Blessed objects serve as focal points for faith and are understood as channels through which the spiritual power gained through Christ's redemption is appropriated.
