Revelation 20:1-6 — "The Thousand Years"

Mennonites interpret Revelation 20:1-6 with some diversity. The passage describes a thousand-year reign and is understood variously as: (1) symbolic of Christ's current reign and the church's victory; (2) literal future millennium before Christ's return; or (3) symbolic of the final consummation. The Mennonite tradition does not require uniformity on eschatological details.

The Mennonite focus is on living faithfully in the present, trusting God's ultimate purposes, rather than on precise prophetic timetables. What matters is conviction that Christ rules now, that God's kingdom is advancing despite opposition, and that believers are called to work for justice and peace in the interim. Revelation 20 is read as affirming Christ's victory and the church's hope, without requiring commitment to a single eschatological scheme.
