Revelation 20:1-6 — "The Thousand Years"

The Church of the Nazarene affirms a premillennial interpretation of Revelation 20:1-6. Christ will literally return, Satan will be bound for a thousand years, the faithful dead will be raised to participate in Christ's reign, and after the thousand years, Satan will be loosed for a final conflict before God's final judgment and the eternal state.

This eschatological framework is consistent with Nazarene theology's emphasis on Christ's future return and the renewal of all things. The Nazarene reading emphasizes that Christ's return is literal and bodily, that resurrection is real and embodied, and that God's ultimate purpose is the establishment of His kingdom on earth before the final consummation. Revelation 20:1-6 provides assurance that Christ's rule will be victorious and that the faithful will share in His triumph.
