Revelation 20:1-6 — "The Thousand Years"

The Church of the Brethren does not have an official unified position on the interpretation of Revelation 20:1-6. Members hold various views: some are premillennial, some amillennial, and some approach the passage more symbolically or traditionally. The Brethren characteristic position is to maintain openness to different interpretations while focusing on the larger theological themes.

What unites Brethren eschatology is the conviction that God is just, that Christ's return is the hope of the Church, and that God will ultimately establish a kingdom of righteousness and peace. The details of how the thousand-year reign is understood — literal, symbolic, immediate or future — are not matters on which the Church insists on uniformity. The Brethren emphasize that believers should be faithfully living out Christ's values of peace and justice in the present while hoping for God's final redemption.
