Revelation 20:1-6 — "The Thousand Years"

The CRC traditionally embraces amillennial eschatology. The 'thousand years' is understood symbolically as the present Church age, between Christ's ascension and final return. Christ already reigns in heaven and through his Church; the binding of Satan is Christ's first coming and the church's triumph through gospel proclamation. There is no literal future millennium on earth. Instead, the final consummation follows immediately upon Christ's return: the resurrection of all the dead, the final judgment, and the eternal state (new heavens and new earth). This amillennial reading emphasizes Christ's present reign through his Word and Spirit rather than anticipating a future earthly kingdom.
