Nature of Jesus

The AG affirms full Chalcedonian Christology: Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God who became fully human through the virgin birth. He is one person with two natures — fully divine and fully human — united without confusion or division. He lived a sinless life, performed miracles, died on the cross as the atoning sacrifice for sin, rose bodily from the dead, ascended to the right hand of the Father, and will return in glory.

Jesus' divinity and humanity are both essential to the AG's soteriology. His divinity gives his death infinite worth; his humanity ensures he is the genuine representative of the human race before God. The AG holds that Jesus is the sole mediator between God and humanity and that salvation is found in him alone.

The SFT explicitly confesses that Jesus Christ is 'the Son of God,' 'conceived of the Holy Ghost and born of the Virgin Mary,' that he 'suffered under Pontius Pilate' and 'rose again from the dead,' and that he 'sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty.' This Christological confession is non-negotiable for Assemblies of God membership and ministry.
