Nature of God

The True Jesus Church understands God as absolutely and strictly one, rejecting any metaphysical distinction between three persons. In the modalistic framework, the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are understood as different aspects, roles, or manifestations of the one God whose complete revealed name is Jesus. The church affirms God's omnipotence, omniscience, and eternality, but insists that these divine attributes belong to the one God who has expressed himself as Father (in the Old Testament period), as Son (in the incarnation), and as Holy Spirit (in the church age).

This Oneness understanding of God differs fundamentally from the substance-based trinitarianism of Nicene Christianity. The church teaches that God the Father is not a separate person from God the Son; rather, they are the same God in different roles. Jesus is therefore not a second person eternally existing alongside the Father, but the complete manifestation of God in the flesh.

The church affirms that God is love, just, merciful, and holy, and that His nature is revealed through Jesus Christ. The Godhead, in the TJC understanding, is not a transcendent abstraction but the living God revealed and personified in Jesus.
