Eternal, all-powerful, all-knowing God; Creator and Sustainer of universe
The SDB Statement of Belief describes God as an infinite, eternal, personal Being — the Creator, Sustainer, Redeemer, and ultimate Ruler of all things. God is omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent, and perfectly holy. He is not dependent on creation and exists necessarily as the self-existent one, the I AM.
God is understood to possess all the classical divine attributes: justice, mercy, love, wisdom, and holiness. God acts in history providentially, sustaining creation, redeeming humanity through Christ, and will ultimately judge all people. God's sovereignty is real and comprehensive, yet God is not the author of sin and respects genuine human moral agency.
The SDB tradition emphasizes that God is personally knowable through Jesus Christ and through the study of Scripture. God desires relationship with His people and graciously invites all to repentance and faith.
