Eternal, omnipotent, personal God; Father, Son, Spirit; Creator and Redeemer
The AG's Statement of Fundamental Truths describes God as the one true God — infinite in power, wisdom, holiness, and love — who is self-existent, eternal, and omnipresent. God created all things and sustains all creation. He is personal, relational, and knowable — not an abstract force or impersonal principle. He acts in history, hears prayer, and intervenes in human affairs.
The AG holds the classical divine attributes: omniscience, omnipotence, omnipresence, perfect holiness, perfect love, and perfect justice. These attributes are understood as essential and eternal aspects of God's nature, not merely functional descriptions. God's sovereignty over creation is affirmed, though the AG's Arminian orientation means this sovereignty is understood as compatible with genuine human freedom and responsibility.
A distinctive of AG theology is the emphasis on God's active, experiential presence available to believers through the Holy Spirit. The AG does not merely teach about God in propositional terms but emphasizes a living, dynamic relationship with the triune God — expressed in worship, prayer, healing, prophecy, and Spirit baptism.
