Nature of God

The New Apostolic Church affirms a traditional understanding of God's nature as revealed in Scripture and the Christian tradition. God is the infinite, eternal, all-powerful, all-knowing creator and sustainer of all things. God's nature is characterized by grace, love, and justice. The NAC teaches that God is supremely good and that His fundamental orientation toward creation is redemptive and benevolent.

The church emphasizes that God's grace extends to all humanity and that God desires the salvation and spiritual perfection of all. This emphasis on universality of grace is consistent with the NAC's distinctive soteriology, which includes the possibility of salvation for the departed through sacraments administered by the living. God's grace is not limited by death or by the boundaries of earthly life.

The NAC's doctrine of God is expressed through its sacramental theology and its emphasis on the continuing work of apostles and the church. God works through the ordained ministry of the church to extend grace to believers, both living and departed. The church thus becomes the instrument through which God's redemptive purposes are accomplished.
