God is the eternal Creator; sovereign, personal, holy, and loving
Hutterites affirm the classical Christian understanding of God as one eternal, omniscient, omnipotent, holy, and loving personal Being — the Creator and Sustainer of all things. God's sovereign will is to be yielded to (Gelassenheit), not resisted; this theological conviction shapes the entire Hutterite way of life.
God's call to communal sharing is understood as rooted in God's own character: a God of love calls his people to love one another concretely, including through the community of goods. The Hutterite community is understood as a visible expression of the character of the God who creates, sustains, and redeems.
