Mark 16:9-20 — "The Longer Ending"

The Zion Christian Church affirms Mark 16:9-20 as part of its biblical canon and values its content highly. While the ZCC may not engage deeply in textual criticism, it receives the passage as Scripture because it appears in the Bibles used in the Church and expresses truths central to ZCC faith and practice.

Most importantly, Mark 16:9-20 promises that believers will perform signs and wonders—casting out demons, speaking in new tongues, laying hands on the sick for healing. These promises are foundational to ZCC theology and ministry. The ZCC's healing and protective ministries are understood as direct fulfillment of the Great Commission and the promises in Mark 16:17-18.

The passage validates the ZCC's understanding of Christ's continuing presence and power through the Holy Spirit and the Church's leadership. Christ's authority over disease, demons, and spiritual forces is exercised through the Church's prayer, laying on of hands, and invocation of Christ's name. Mark 16:9-20 provides scriptural foundation for these practices.
