John 7:53–8:11 — "The Woman Caught in Adultery"

Jehovah's Witnesses recognize that John 7:53–8:11 is not found in the earliest and most reliable Greek manuscripts. The passage was a later addition to John's Gospel. However, the themes of mercy, forgiveness, and fair judgment resonate with biblical principles. Witnesses apply these themes—compassion toward sinners, resistance to hypocrisy, and God's justice—throughout their teaching and pastoral practice.

Though the passage's authenticity is questionable, Witnesses value its moral and spiritual lessons. The account illustrates the importance of moral discernment and mercy while maintaining God's standards. Jesus' response—neither condemnation nor approval of the woman's sin—reflects the balance of mercy and justice that characterizes God's dealings with humanity.
