Affirms as Scripture; exemplifies Christ's mercy and transformation of sinners
The Church of the Nazarene affirms John 7:53–8:11 as part of canonical Scripture. The passage is valued for its demonstration of Jesus's response to the sinful woman: he shows mercy, does not condemn, and calls her to repentance and a new life. This witness to Christ's compassion and transformative grace is important in Nazarene theology.
The passage exemplifies the Nazarene understanding of salvation and sanctification: sinners are not condemned but offered grace, called to repentance, and empowered to turn from sin. The passage affirms both that sin is serious and that Christ's mercy is greater.
