James 2:24 — "Justified by Works"

The Assyrian Church of the East affirms James 2:24 within its understanding that justification is inseparable from sanctification and transformation. Works are not merely external evidence of faith but are integral to the believer's union with Christ and participation in God's life. The Eastern theology of theosis (deification) emphasizes that salvation is the transformation of the believer into the image of Christ.

Works of obedience flow from and manifest the indwelling of the Holy Spirit in the believer. Faith and works are two aspects of the single reality of salvation.
