Personal, divine Third Person; baptism of Spirit evidenced by tongues in many; gifts active
The RCCG affirms the full personhood and divinity of the Holy Spirit as the Third Person of the Trinity. The Holy Spirit is not an impersonal force or influence, but a personal divine being who acts, speaks, guides, empowers, and sanctifies. The RCCG teaches that the Holy Spirit was given at Pentecost and continues to be active in the Church, empowering believers for service and spiritual transformation.
A distinctive feature of RCCG theology is the emphasis on the baptism of the Holy Spirit (or fullness of the Spirit) as an experience distinct from conversion. This baptism is understood as an empowerment of the Holy Spirit for service and witness, and in many RCCG congregations, speaking in tongues is seen as the initial evidence of this Spirit-baptism. However, the church recognizes that the gifts of the Spirit include more than tongues: prophecy, healing, words of knowledge, discernment, and other charisms listed in 1 Corinthians 12 are understood as active and present in the church today. The church expects miraculous manifestations of God's power through the gifts of the Spirit, including divine healing, deliverance from demonic oppression, and prophetic revelation.
