The Brethren in Christ affirm heaven as the eternal destiny of believers—a state of resurrection and eternal communion with God. Heaven is not merely spiritual (disembodied existence) but material and embodied. Believers will be raised with transformed, glorified bodies and will dwell in God's presence forever.
Heaven is described as the new creation—a renewed and restored cosmos where God dwells with His people (Revelation 21:3). It is a place of perfect peace, justice, and communion. The intermediate heaven (where believers' souls go at death) gives way to the final heavenly state when Christ returns and resurrects all believers.
Heaven is real, personal (not abstract or impersonal), and the goal toward which Christian life is directed. It is anticipated with hope and joy, motivating faithfulness and perseverance in the present. The promise of heaven is not escapism but the assurance that God's purposes for creation will be fulfilled and His people will share in that glory.
