Creation ex nihilo; God as almighty Creator of all things from nothing
The Foursquare Church affirms the traditional doctrine of creation ex nihilo: God created all things from nothing. Genesis 1:1-2 is interpreted as describing God's creative act by which all things came into being. This understanding is foundational to Foursquare theology and worldview.
The Foursquare Pentecostal perspective on creation emphasizes God's mighty power and ongoing involvement in the world. God's creative power in the beginning is the same power available through the Holy Spirit in the present. The Spirit who moved over the chaotic waters at creation continues to work miracles, healing, and transformation in believers' lives.
Creation is understood as reflecting God's goodness, wisdom, and purpose. Humans are created in God's image and are called to stewardship and partnership with God in accomplishing his purposes in the world. The creation narrative supports Foursquare conviction in God's power and willingness to work supernatural miracles.
