Extra-biblical Revelation

Swedenborgianism affirms that God has continued to reveal Himself beyond the biblical era. Emanuel Swedenborg received divine revelations that form the New Revelation of the New Church. His theological works, written as a result of visions and spiritual experiences, constitute authoritative revelation clarifying Scripture's inner sense and establishing doctrine for a new age of the church.

Swedenborg is understood as the vessel through whom God communicated essential spiritual truths for the modern era and beyond. These revelations are binding on the New Church and are equal in authority to Scripture itself for determining doctrine.
