Clergy & Priesthood

Iglesia ni Cristo has ordained ministers (pastors) who are trained in doctrine and lead the congregations. These ministers are strictly part of the hierarchical authority structure and are responsible for teaching INC doctrine, administering the sacraments, and maintaining discipline in their congregations. The role of the minister is authoritative; lay members are not permitted to interpret Scripture or teach doctrine independently. All teaching must be consistent with the official doctrine as interpreted by the Church leadership.

The clergy function is understood as distinct from the priesthood of all believers; lay members do not have the authority to preach, teach, or lead public worship. The strict hierarchy of ministers and supervisors ensures doctrinal uniformity and prevents deviation from INC teaching. Training in official doctrine is essential for ordination, and ministers are expected to enforce adherence to INC teachings among their congregations.
