Church Authority

The RCCG is structured with centralized authority under the leadership of the General Overseer, who serves as the head of the church worldwide. The current General Overseer, Enoch Adeboye (since 1981), is highly venerated as the spiritual leader and prophet of the church. The General Overseer exercises significant spiritual and administrative authority over the RCCG, and his teachings and directives carry substantial weight within the denomination.

The church is organized into parishes (local congregations) and administrative regions, with pastors and administrative structures at each level. Authority flows from Scripture and from the General Overseer and senior leadership of the church. While the RCCG affirms the authority of Scripture as the final doctrinal norm, in practice, the teachings and pastoral leadership of the General Overseer are extremely influential in shaping RCCG theology and practice. The church does not accept apostolic succession doctrines but emphasizes the spiritual calling and anointing of the General Overseer and church leaders.
