The C&S's approach to healing is integrative — prayer and faith are essential, but medicine and medical professionals are understood as gifts from God through which healing can be mediated. The church does not teach that reliance on medicine indicates lack of faith. Rather, using medical knowledge and resources is understood as exercising the prudence that God gives. The church conducts healing services with anointing of oil and prayer, and many testimonies of miraculous healing are treasured; but these are understood alongside and not against medical treatment.
This stance distinguishes the C&S from some groups (like Jehovah's Witnesses) that reject blood transfusions on theological grounds. The C&S's openness to medicine reflects its pragmatic concern with the welfare of believers and its understanding that God's healing comes through multiple channels — the Spirit, prayer, blessed objects, and medical science.
