Christian Science rejects both the Comma Johanneum and the doctrine of the Trinity it attempts to support. The passage is absent from the earliest manuscripts, and more fundamentally, Christian Science denies the existence of three distinct divine persons. God is one infinite Principle, not a Trinity of persons. While the Comma Johanneum is a textual interpolation, Christian Science's rejection of it is part of its broader rejection of Trinitarian theology as incompatible with monotheism and the nature of the divine Principle.
