The RCCG teaches that salvation is the work of God's grace, received through faith in Jesus Christ. Salvation is not earned by works but is offered as a free gift to all who believe. The believer must experience a personal conversion, often called 'born again' or 'born of the Spirit,' in which the individual repents of sin and personally accepts Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. This new birth is understood as a radical spiritual transformation that grants forgiveness of sins and a new relationship with God.

The church teaches that salvation involves justification (God's declaration that the believer is righteous through faith in Christ) and sanctification (the ongoing work of the Holy Spirit in transforming the believer's life). While salvation is initiated by God's grace alone, the individual's free response of faith is necessary. The RCCG's Arminian theological orientation emphasizes that God extends prevenient grace to all and that human free will cooperates with God's offered grace. Ongoing faith and obedience maintain the believer in the state of salvation, though genuine believers are preserved by God's grace.
