The UPCI affirms conscious personal existence after death. Those who die in faith are with Christ; the unrighteous face a state of judgment. The UPCI does not teach soul sleep — the dead are conscious in the intermediate state, not unconscious until the resurrection. At the second coming of Christ, all the dead will be raised bodily for the final judgment.

The UPCI's eschatological framework is broadly premillennial: believers will be caught up to meet Christ at his return, followed by a period of tribulation, Christ's millennial reign, and the final judgment and eternal states. The resurrected body is understood as a glorified, imperishable transformation of the earthly body, patterned on Christ's own resurrection.

The reality of eternal life for the saved and eternal punishment for the lost is foundational to UPCI preaching and evangelism. The urgency with which the UPCI proclaims its distinctive salvation message — repentance, Jesus-name baptism, Spirit baptism — is inseparable from the conviction that those who do not receive the full new birth face eternal separation from God.
