Eternal Son; pre-existed incarnation; divine Word through whom all created

The International Church of the Foursquare Gospel affirms that Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God who existed before his incarnation. He is identified with the Logos (Word) of John 1:1, through whom all things were created and through whom all things continue to exist. His incarnation was not the beginning of his existence but the entrance of the eternal Word into human history and nature.

This pre-existence affirms Jesus's full divinity and eternal status as the Son of God. It explains his unique role as Creator and sustainer of all things, and his authority as Savior and judge. The incarnation represents the supreme act of love and humility, in which the eternal Son emptied himself, took human form, and accomplished redemption for all who believe.

Key Distinctions
