The COGC approaches Scripture with a high view of inspiration: the biblical writers were guided by God to communicate truthfully, and the resulting text is authoritative in matters of faith, practice, history, and doctrine. While the COGC does not typically engage the formal inerrancy debate in evangelical institutional contexts, its functional commitment to the full reliability of Scripture is equivalent to inerrancy.
