The Church of God (Anderson) teaches that Scripture is the primary, supreme revelation of God's will, but affirms that the Holy Spirit continues to guide believers through inner witness, personal prayer, and corporate discernment. The Spirit illuminates Scripture, speaks through believers' consciences, and directs the church in its mission and ministry. This is not understood as adding new doctrines or practices beyond Scripture but as the Spirit's ongoing application and guidance of biblical truth.

The church is generally cessationist regarding formal prophecy—the giving of new revelation with the authority of Scripture. However, believers may testify to the Spirit's inner leading, divine impressions, and answered prayer. All such experiences are tested against Scripture: if guidance contradicts the clear teaching of Scripture, it is to be rejected. The balance the church seeks is between honoring the Spirit's leading in the present and submitting all claims of revelation to the standard of Scripture. The Spirit's work is primarily the work of making believers holy and leading them into deeper obedience to the Word.
