Jesus was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary

Churches of Christ affirm the virgin birth as a historical miracle clearly taught in the New Testament. Mary conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit without a human father, fulfilling the Messianic expectation. This is considered a non-negotiable element of the apostolic gospel and of a proper understanding of the Incarnation.

The virgin birth is regularly preached in Churches of Christ as evidence of Christ's unique divine origin. Any denial of the virgin birth would be regarded as a fundamental departure from the faith once delivered to the saints.
