Calvary Chapel does not prohibit military service and regards it as a legitimate and honorable calling. Government authorities are ordained by God (Romans 13), and service in the military is understood as one way of fulfilling civic duties. Many Calvary Chapel members serve or have served in the armed forces, and military chaplaincy is supported.

While Calvary Chapel does not develop a formal just-war doctrine, its broadly evangelical and patriotic American context means that military service is generally affirmed without controversy. Individual conscience is respected for those who hold pacifist convictions, but pacifism is not taught as the Christian norm.
