The Word is God; Christ is divine; traditional orthodox Christological reading affirmed

The Zion Christian Church affirms the traditional reading of John 1:1 as establishing the full divinity of Jesus Christ. Although the ZCC incorporates African Independent elements and contextual expressions, its core Christology remains orthodox, affirming Jesus as the divine Son of God and Lord of all.

The affirmation of Christ's divinity is central to the ZCC's understanding of Christ as healer, protector, and source of blessing. The spiritual authority exercised in healing and deliverance ministries is grounded in the recognition of Christ as the incarnate Word, fully divine and present through the Holy Spirit in the Church. Christ's divinity validates the spiritual power accessible through prayer, faith, and the intercession of church leaders.

The ZCC's syncretistic elements (incorporation of ancestor veneration and local spiritual practices) do not negate the foundational affirmation of Christ as the divine Logos. Rather, the ZCC seeks to understand Christ's divinity as encompassing and transcending traditional African spiritual concerns, making Him the supreme spiritual authority and source of healing and protection.
