Vineyard affirms that revelatory gifts — prophecy, words of knowledge, tongues with interpretation, visions, and dreams — continue today and are part of normal church life. These gifts are understood as the Spirit's means of building up the body, guiding ministry, and demonstrating God's power. Vineyard has developed a significant culture of training people to use these gifts responsibly.

Critically, Vineyard insists that all contemporary prophetic utterances are fallible and must be tested against Scripture; they do not carry the authority of canonical revelation. Wimber and subsequent Vineyard leaders have consistently resisted the idea that present-day prophets speak with the same authority as biblical prophets. This distinguishes Vineyard's approach from some NAR streams that assert apostolic authority for present-day prophets.
