The Universal Church of the Kingdom of God includes the longer reading of 1 John 5:7-8 (the 'Comma Johanneum'), which adds Trinitarian language: 'there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost.' While this text is absent from the earliest Greek manuscripts and is likely a later Western addition, the UCKG values it because it affirms the Trinity explicitly.

The UCKG's approach prioritizes theological content over textual minutiae. The Comma Johanneum expresses the doctrine of the Trinity which the UCKG affirms on other grounds (John 1:1, Matthew 28:19, etc.). Whether or not 1 John 5:7-8 originally contained these words, they express biblical truth.

Most Bibles used by the UCKG include this passage (in the KJV and some other translations), so it is received as Scripture. The UCKG does not heavily depend on this passage for Trinitarian doctrine but affirms it as supporting explicit testimony to the three divine persons.
