The UUA's historical Unitarian heritage explicitly rejected the divinity of Christ. While contemporary UUA members span a spectrum of beliefs, the denomination does not affirm Hebrews 1:8 as teaching Christ's divinity. The Jesus honored in UUA tradition is understood as a great moral teacher and exemplar of compassion, not as God incarnate.
