Jesus is the eternal God who existed before His incarnation
The True Jesus Church affirms that Jesus Christ is eternal and pre-existed His earthly incarnation. Jesus is not a being who came into existence at conception or birth; rather, He is the eternal God, the unchanging 'I AM' of the Old Testament. The Word or Logos that is spoken of in John 1:1-3 is Jesus Christ, through whom all things were created.
This pre-existence is not understood in terms of trinitarian theology (where the Son is eternally distinct from the Father) but rather in terms of Oneness theology: Jesus is the eternal expression of the one God's being. The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob is Jesus, who later took on human flesh in the incarnation. This understanding emphasizes the absolute eternality and unchanging nature of Jesus.
The pre-existence of Christ is central to affirming His deity and His unique role in creation and redemption. It distinguishes Him from all created beings and prophets.
