Full Catholic liturgical calendar; Christmas, Easter, feast days; Thomas Christian traditions

The Syro-Malabar Church observes the full Catholic liturgical calendar, which includes the major Christian festivals of Christmas (celebrating the incarnation of Christ), Easter (celebrating the resurrection), and Pentecost (celebrating the gift of the Holy Spirit). These feasts are understood as commemorations of central events in the economy of salvation and are observed with special liturgical solemnity.

The church year is organized according to the movement through these great feast days. The season of Advent precedes Christmas, a time of spiritual preparation. Lent is the penitential season preceding Easter, during which the faithful are called to increased prayer, fasting, and almsgiving. The Easter Triduum (three days) is the most solemn celebration of the year, commemorating Christ's suffering, death, and resurrection.

Beyond the universal Catholic calendar, the Syro-Malabar Church also celebrates feasts specific to its tradition, such as the feast of Thomas the Apostle (celebrating the apostolic founder of the Thomas Christian community in India) and various saint days. The church also observes Perunnal, a Thomas Christian festival with cultural and spiritual significance in Kerala. These celebrations blend Catholic liturgical practice with the distinctive Syriac and Indian cultural heritage of the Syro-Malabar tradition.
