Swedenborgianism has no formal doctrinal position on military service. Individual conscience and discernment guide each member's decision. Some Swedenborgians have served in military capacities, while others have taken pacifist positions based on their understanding of Christian love and non-violence. The denomination does not impose a uniform requirement.

The general emphasis on love of the neighbor and active charity provides principles by which individuals may discern their own position, but no binding teaching is established.
