The SDB tradition emphasizes that Scripture should be studied carefully, understood in its historical and cultural context, and interpreted according to sound hermeneutical principles. However, this careful study is always conducted with the conviction that Scripture is God's trustworthy Word, not a human document of questionable reliability.
