The RCA affirms the classical Christian attributes of God as expressed in the Three Forms of Unity. God is infinite in his being and perfection, eternal (without beginning or end), immutable (unchanging), omniscient (knowing all things), omnipotent (all-powerful), and perfectly holy and just.

God is uniquely self-sufficient and does not depend on creation for his existence or perfection. He is both transcendent (infinitely beyond creation) and immanent (intimately involved in sustaining and ruling creation). God's character is the ground of all goodness, justice, and moral obligation.

The Belgic Confession teaches that God is infinite in being, power, wisdom, and goodness. God's will is the ultimate standard of justice, and his decree encompasses all things while remaining compatible with genuine human responsibility. This divine nature grounds both the hope of believers and the accountability of all creatures.
